Kristen - Founder of Brain Candy Ink

Kristen is first and foremost an artist. She just so happens to also be owner, and sole operator of Brain Candy Ink. Her studio practice utilizes many mediums – pen and ink illustration, various printmaking techniques, and working with natural fibers and dyes – to create unique, handmade artwear. Kristen creates each piece from start to finish at the Brain Candy Ink studio in Asheville, NC, ensuring that each piece is unique and special in its own way. We hope that you feel the care and love that goes into the creation of each article of clothing.

Brain Candy Ink is inspired by nature in all forms – organic matter, pattern and sacred geometry. Layering mediums and processes helps to visually define the symbiotic subject matters that form a deeper understanding of the divine connection between all living things. Our respect for nature reflects in the studio practice in how our clothes are made. We use water based inks that are non-toxic to the environment and the wearer. We print almost entirely on American made clothing to reduce my shipping footprint. We also aim to produce as little waste as possible by reusing materials where we can.
